When thinking of home or business security do not fail to protect your driveway. Driveway security comes in many forms and there are some basic, free measures you can take for good driveway protection. Your driveway is the main source of entry to your property; this is where good security starts.

Many Americans protect their homes or business by using security, but there is one prime area they usually fail to protect, the driveway.  Driveway protection is very important, this is the first place someone gains access to your property.  This is why driveway security should be viewed as a priority to protect.

Driveway protection starts with basic maintenance.  You should remove overgrown bushes or other plants.  This can make a great place for an unwanted guest to hide.

You also need to improve your lighting around your driveway.  Most burglars do not want to walk through a brightly lit driveway to gain entry into your home or business.  Good lighting always acts as a deterrent.

There are many choices of lighting and there are many solar powered lights available.  Many lighting products only come on at night and do not require a switch to be operated.  You can also choose to place of your outdoor lighting on timers so you do not even have to think about it, they will come on automatically, this is great while away on business or on vacation.

There are also many great new products on the market like a driveway alert system.  You can get a similar product in many forms, but the main way they work is to sound an alarm every time a car enters your property.  You can also use a monitor to see who is coming and going from your residence or business.

The Akron Police Department recently gave the following tips to www.wykc.com, “Utilize exterior lighting: It only costs approximately $1/month to keep a porch light on all night.) Activate a residential alarm system, if you home has one. Report any suspicious activity or person(s): You know what activity is normal for you area. Call the police if someone is acting suspicious and be sure to give a specific description and reason for your concern. “

You can keep your driveway monitored with the WMA-3000 - Dakota Wireless Motion Drive Alert 3000.  Don't be caught unaware by unexpected visitors. The Wireless Motion Alert system will send an instant alert from the foot of your driveway to your home when a person or car enters your property. The transmitter uses an infrared beam to detect people or vehicles to a distance of up to 80 feet, and then sends a radio signal back to the receiver, which can be placed in your home up to 600 feet away.

The WPA-3000 - Dakota Wireless Probe Alert 3000 is another great way to monitor your driveway.  The WPA-3000 is an extremely reliable driveway alarm that is used to detect vehicles only. The probe is buried parallel to the driveway, and will detect vehicles passing by within approximately 10-12 feet. The direct burial cable can be run to a tree or post nearby, where the transmitter box is located and when a vehicle drives by, the transmitter will send a signal to the WR-3000 receiver up to 600 feet away.

So when you are planning your security for your home or business, do not neglect your driveway protection.  Driveway security will provide you with the knowledge of anyone that steps foot onto your property.
