Are you looking to improve your home security, but you do not have a lot of money to spend? It seems that most things that can improve security involve hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. While for most items this is true, there are ways to improve your home security without spending a lot of money. This article is going to tell you about some cheap home security improvements.
Many people enjoy to leave their windows open during the hot summer months. This is a great way to save on your energy bill, but it is one of the worst things you could do when trying to have good home security.
However, there is a way to get the best of both worlds. By installing window locks that will prevent the window from being opened more than four inches; you can still get a nice breeze while having good home security. You can buy such a lock for under $40.
Another cheap way to improve your home security is to add a key holder to your house. Some people do not want to carry their house key around with them all day. In the past, the best solution was to hide the key under the doormat, a rock, etc. This is not a very safe solution because anyone could find the key.
There is a new solution though. By adding a key holder to your house, you will be able to gain access to your door key without anyone else being able too. This is possible by placing the key into a small box that can only be opened with a 3-digit combination. You can buy this key holder for less than $20.
