Among SkyLink’s most popular items at Home Security Store are the garage door control devices. Other SkyLink products include wireless home and office security alarm systems, wireless alarm, alert, and automation systems, automatic swing door openers, universal remote control transmitters, emergency phone dialers, and lighting control products.

According to their own press, SkyLink is the first company to incorporate rolling code technology in a home or business security system. An example of this is the SC100 - SkyLink Wireless Home Security System. The technology guarantees that the control panel will only recognize radio waves from its remote sensors, which prevents high tech thieves from duplicating signals and tampering with your security system.

Another SkyLink product is the GM-318 - SkyLink Garage Door Monitor which alerts you anywhere inside your home when your garage door is open. On the other hand, the GT-100A - SkyLink Garage Door Closer automatically closes the garage door after it has been left opened for a fixed period of time. SkyLink also distributes a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS). The MS-2001 - SKYLINK Emergency Auto Dialer dials for emergency help when you can't. This works perfect for elderly or disabled people who may be unable to dial for help in the event of a fall or other emergency.

SkyLink was established in 1990 and has 4 locations - a sales office and warehouse in Brampton, Ontario, Canada; a distribution center in Ontario, California; an international sales office in Hong Kong, and a manufacturing facility in China.

What is a Driveway Alarm?

A driveway alarm can be that extra layer of home security that you need. Even if you already have an alarm system in place, a driveway alarm protects the parameter of your home and will instantly warn you of unwanted intruders. The driveway alarm works with a transmitter and a receiver. When the transmitter detects movement across a driveway or protected area, it sends a signal to the receiver which then sounds an alert. These devices are not only useful for driveways, but can guard over any spot where you think an intruder might be or an area that you would like to monitor, from behind the ranch to around the pool.

While some competitors advertise greater radio ranges than Dakota does, Dakota advertises ranges tested in real world applications affected by trees, hills, buildings, and sidings (as opposed to ideal situations). Because of this, the listed range of Dakota’s 3000 series is 600 feet. The driveway alarms that Dakota makes are also very durable and meant for outdoor use.

In Texas, a pair of thieves broke into a home in San Antonio, but what they did not know is that they were being taped. Police now have the video of the two thieves and are hoping someone recognizes the culprits. In the video, it is apparent what the two men are wearing and what they look like.

Here’s how the burglary went down - The home security video shows two men walking along the street in front of the house they were to break-into. No one is home at the time and the thieves enter through a window.

"They came in through my daughter's window, and they exited through the same place," Michelle Alvarado told WOAI-TV. Once inside, the thieves headed straight for Michelle son's room.

"All of his shoes, I mean, in his closet. The rack is empty," explained Michelle. "Lots of jewelry, cologne - All of that fun stuff that my son has. Two watches that are irreplaceable. My father passed away, and he gave them to him. So, those are gone also."

The thieves took about a half hour to ransack the room. "For someone to come and take that when he worked so hard. That's tough," Michelle said. The video then shows the thieves coming out of the home wearing some of the clothes they stole.

"I mean, it's material stuff. And the good thing is that we weren't home, and nobody was hurt," added Michelle. "And we'll just have to start over. That's the best you can do. Pray and hope that it doesn't happen again."

Michelle can do more than just pray she can beef up her home security even more. Though she had a surveillance system in place she did not have a home alarm system armed. That’s likely why the thieves were able to take their time

If you do not have a home security system installed you need to get one. This will provide you peace of mind that comes with knowing you are doing everything possible to protect yourself.

However there is other things you can do to prevent a home burglary and these will not cost you anything except the time to implement them.

1. Keep your home well lit on the outside. Burglars do not want to be heard and they do not want to be seen.

Leaving on outside lights is just the type of attention they do not want. You can also set up a motion system that brings lights on manually when they detect motion.

2. Keep your home well lit on the inside as well. Use a timer to bring your lights on and off even when you are not home. Your goal is to make it seem like there's action in the house and that someone is up and around.

3. Install shrubberies and flowers around windows making it harder to enter them. Also install them throughout your property to make it harder for burglars to move around.

4. Put up signs on the doors windows and in the yard where people can see them. Even if you do not have a security system it makes it seem like you do.

5. Mark all of your property making it harder to sell if it's stolen. This is something you can quickly do.

These are several things you can do to possibly to prevent a home burglary. By taking a proactive approach you will save yourself time reacting later.

It is a crazy world we all live in today! Although you cannot control what is going on around you outside in the world, you can control what is going on inside of your own home.

One important question to ask yourself is this "Is your family safe at home?"

For starters you should pay attention to whether you have a home security plan for your family. And once you do have one is everyone in your family aware of how it works?

The primary aspects we will be considering are fires, break-ins by intruders, and health issues such as poisoning.

Therefore you must have a fire alarm. Once it goes off everyone in the family must know exactly what they are to do to get out of the house safely.

You should check the batteries in your fire alarms and smoke detectors. Put this in your day timer on your computer as a reminder.

Have fire extinguishers located in timely areas where you can access them if you need them.

You should install at the very least a basic home security system and keep it monitored by a professional company.

Keep all poisonous materials and household chemicals out of reach. Also keep important phone numbers such as the poison control center, hospitals, and your doctor where you can reach them.

Keep your home well lit both on the inside and the outside to deter burglars from attacking it. Also keep any valuables in a locked safe where they are protected.

This is several important steps you can take to keep your family safe in your own home.
Not everyone is cut out for do-it-yourself home projects. Although home security product installations are on the rise some homeowners would prefer to leave it to the professionals.

It certainly is possible that a professional security expert can pay you back both financially as well as in the savings of the time you might invest. Not all of us are technically inclined to the point that we want to mess with installing any type of security system.

Certainly the market has improved to the point that products are much easier to install if you choose to do that. However security professionals can offer numerous to maximize your system you may not consider yourself.

Plus these types of people do installations on a daily basis which make them much quicker. You will find yourself spending more time just because you are not aware of the required steps to get your system installed.

One idea is to get a couple of bids and determine exactly how expensive a home security system would be. It will also give you ideas on how professionals view the necessary products to put together a system for your home.

When you do it in the form of a bid you can usually get this for free. They view it as a form of a consultation when in fact they are trying to make a sale. However it's a great way for you to collect information both on products and pricing.

Professionals often can purchase things at a discounted price that you would not be able to get. This savings might make the installed cost of the product closer to the retail price you will pay.
When it comes to home surveillance you can get as elaborate as you want. Everyone should consider a few of the basics when putting together proper surveillance cameras for their home.

Here are three common things that are effective and inexpensive at the same time.

1. Putting signs in your windows and on your doors where they can be seen is an extremely effective way of making people think your home is under surveillance.

Some homeowners will put these up even if they do not have any type of security system installed. This makes sense because statistics have shown that homes are less likely to be broken into if they have a sign projecting an image of security.

2. Burglars hate loud noises or anything that draws attention to them. Having an alarm installed, that goes off when someone is trying to break into your window or doors, is an extremely effective form of home surveillance.

3. People act differently when there know they are being watched. Having a wireless camera installed is a great way to catch a person in the act of something.

Another thing you can do is install a fake camera which gives the impression you are watching them. Fake cameras are inexpensive to purchase and very easy to install, because they obviously are not actually hooked to anything.

Many people base their home surveillance on the ease of installation as well. There are many products available on the Internet today that do a very effective job of providing security and any average person can install them.
Let's see if we can break down the most common business security products that are effective and not too expensive either.

1. The security alarm is an important component of having an effective system for your business. It is designed to send out a loud noise when someone tries to come in through a door or window into your business. Many times this feature alone will scare a burglar away.

2. If the noise is not enough to scare them away alarm monitoring might be. Having your alarm connected with a security company, or the police can play a big role in how secure your business is.

3. Using a quality security camera can be helpful in a number of ways. Certainly law enforcement use it to help catch burglars based on the pictures they can view. They can also scare them away and keep them from even coming into your business at all when they realize they are being watched.

4. Put signs in visible places that let intruders know you are protecting your business. This form of security is easy to put up and may just send a burglar away from your business before they ever break in.

5. Indoor and outdoor lighting is a burglar’s worst enemy. Keep your home well lit both inside and outside to help scare away any unwanted visitors.

This is five common business security products being used today that are proven to keep the burglars and intruders away from business owners. These five are not expensive, easy to install, and most importantly they work!
The economy has people considering how to save money and cut corners. One area that is being focused on is home security systems. One way you can save money is to install your own system to secure your home.

Here are five reasons why do it yourself security systems may be an option for you!

1. Systems have become easier to deal with than they were in the past. This means that you may not have to pay a professional to install your system to get a quality system.

2. Saving money is certainly one reason why you might be considering doing the job yourself. If you are willing to invest some of your time that alone will save you money.

3. When you do your own installation you know exactly how it has been installed. If you ever need to make changes to it in the future it's easier to do because you are the one who installed it originally. Plus if you ever need service of some type you know where to look for potential problems.

4. The do it yourself market is extremely popular in many types of home improvements. If you consider yourself to be technically inclined, and like to do your own work, then a do it yourself home security system is probably a good idea.

5. One thing you can do is get some bids on a professional installation and then weigh that cost against the savings of doing the job yourself. You may find that a DIY security system offers an irresistible amount of savings.
